After a lengthy meeting in late February, the Task Force was called once again to meet.
There is no agenda as of yet online, but from the previous meeting, expect to hear the following:
-a presentation from MDPLS Library Director on a 'new' MDPLS
-any final recommendations that will be made to the Board of County Commissioners
...and quite possibly, a call for more efficiency in the Library from the Mayor.
From the last Task Force meeting, the Mayor explicitly stated that he will include the fact that the Task Force strongly recommended that the millage rate be increased for MDPLS to maintain and enhance services.
He however, also explicitly stated that he was not convinced of the Library's efficiency, despite the numerous cuts in budget and service over the past few years.
Staff has been cut in half. Hours have been reduced. Services have been cut. Cuts in the materials collection are becoming very apparent. What more can be cut from our Libraries?
This will not be a meeting open to public discussion, but the public is welcome to attend! It will be a great force to see many library supporters in the audience concerned about the findings found by the Task Force.
If you have the time, please come out downtown to show your support!
